Blackpool moving forward with the times

Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board made funding available to accommodation providers in Blackpool to enable significant quality improvements in line with national accreditation. We recently had the opportunity to visit some of the projects that have been supported as a result of the work undertaken in partnership with Blackpool Borough Council. We saw how Langtry’s, Blackpool’s newest official five star establishment has been helped to develop their business from what was formerly an ‘average’ three star guest house, and wow – what a transformation, with good levels of bookings and feedback already reported. We also had the opportunity to visit The Mount – a good quality three star guest house on the Promenade which has been transformed from a very tired and run down establishment into what is now a very comfortable place to stay, with all mod cons. Likewise, The Fame had also benefitted from funding to assist with quality improvements and Bispham’s Queens Mansions has received funding to introduce additional top quality self- catering apartments, featuring every possible luxury at a five star Visit Britain level.

These are the kind of developments that are showing that Blackpool can move forward with the times and adapt to guests increasing expectations of quality and comfort with value for money. No longer should guests accept double glazing, central heating and colour televisions as USP’s – that approach is out of date. These operators have moved forward with the times, upped their game and showed that they have that edge.

Well done to everyone concerned and keep up the good work!
