And the winner is…

While most LBTB staff were celebrating at the LETS Awards last night, Barbara and I attended another awards ceremony in Preston – The Six in the City Business Awards 2009 held by Downtown Preston in Business.

Barbara had worked hard to get us a nomination for the Best Marketing Campaign Award for Taste Lancashire, so we went along to The Atrium which is part of the UCLAN’s student union. To be honest we weren’t too sure what lay ahead of us as we didn’t know much about the awards night. We were greeted with a champagne reception; the place looked great and had a real buzz about it.  And, the dinner was delicious! Proper Lancashire Hotpot, scrumptious Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding, and to finish off, a board of local cheeses, chutney and biscuits (I could have grazed all evening).

Next, the award ceremony, and we both became suddenly nervous! There were some really deserved winners that have all helped to shape Preston into a unique city for business. The bad news….Taste Lancashire was pipped to the post by Shout Preston who won for their Student Lock in at The Mall. But we put on our gracious loser faces…maybe next year!
