A Successful 2009

We were delighted to be invited to the Stay Blackpool 2009 End of Season Wrap held recently at the Imperial Hotel, Blackpool. This was an opportunity for members of Stay Blackpool (the resorts only officially recognised hotel and guest house association) to come together and celebrate what has been a buoyant season and many hoteliers were about to start jetting off far away for a well deserved rest after welcoming many, many guests through their doors this season. The mood was very upbeat, and again, the message of trading on quality, not on price, shone through.

President Helen Mansell thanked everyone for their efforts during their season and acknowledged the close working relationship between Stay Blackpool, Blackpool Council and LBTB.

The meal was great, the flowers and table settings (provided by Flower Design) fabulous and entertainment was provided by the fabulous Brothers of Swing. For me, best of all was the opportunity to raise some much needed money for Cancer Research and the Blackpool Illuminations fund.

This event showed that despite the current difficult economic environment that trading on quality is the only way forward. Those who have, have had a successful 2009 season and many operators I spoke to confirmed that they were desperate for a rest after having been so busy this year. Long may it continue and I do hope to be able to get ‘poshed up’ again same time next year for another upbeat message.

Many thanks to Company Secretary Peter Taylor, President Helen Mansell and Vice President Claire Smith for a wonderful evening. Pictures kindly taken with permission from Flower Design.
