Glam at The Grand

table_8320Last week it was time to don sparkly dresses (and didn’t the men look great in them!) at the Pennine Lancashire Festival of Food and Culture Gala Dinner, a glamorous evening of Lancashire food, culture and entertainment.

The event was held at The Grand at Clitheroe, a listed building, formerly the town’s cinema, now a multi-media music and arts performance venue. The theme was very much about taking pride in your local area. As well as the guests who hailed mainly from the Pennine Lancashire area, the three course dinner showcased Lancashire’s finest produce, offering ham hock from Samlesbury, cornfed chicken from Goosnargh and raspberries from the Fylde coast. The after dinner speaker, Norman Prince, the former frontman for the comedy folk band, The Houghton Weavers told us – in a very comic way – to be proud of our local accents and the John Wickham Trio, local lads and one of the area’s up-and-coming ensembles, provided the late evening entertainment.gala_8377
